Revitalizing the Woods
Bringing Back the Native Flora
Abandoned woods along an old farm path became an underutilized area near the center of the campus. The area had poor water drainage , large mulch beds devoid of other beneficial plant material, and a transitional forest canopy from cherries and ashes to oaks and maples. Inspired by many hikes throughout the northern Ohio forest, a design of native ferns, flowers, bushes, and sedges was laid out in a beautiful year-round patchwork growing together while supporting the entire ecosystem.
